Woofer Selection
Tweeter Selection
Discussion:
What was the hardest part about picking a woofer?
The hardest part of picking a woofer was selecting a driver which would be loud enough yet cost efficient enough to be used in this project. Being an audio engineer, I would have loved to been able to spring for a multi-hundred dollar driver to make the best speakers possible but that is not the objective of the project. Once I had found a reasonably priced woofer it was time to pick the point where the SPL graph began to roll off to pick a frequency to be the estimated crossover.
What was the hardest part about picking a tweeter?
Once I had picked a woofer I found a cheap, yet high quality tweeter to match it. The one I chose was a perfect match aside from the bonus wattage which this one can handle. The hardest part in making this selection was once again limiting my spending.

CalculationsThe calculations which I had performed in making these selections had to do with estimating the frequency where the crossover will be at. Once I was aware of this frequency (2500 Hz) I attempted to choose tweeters which began to roll up in frequency before 2000Hz as to create a seamless crossover with a 500Hz overlap in frequency.
